NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS!!

NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS!!

Good morning and Happy New Year to all the AnimAnimalistas (in english it would be something like Animalist Soul) reading :)

Even though it's already the day of the Epiphany, I still have to do a few thoughts about the new year ... and the only one really important that I'd like to make is that if 2015 had been a year of transition for me (because I became vegetarian) my 2016 will be VEGAN with no doubt!!

I'm getting closer to a vegan lifestyle, which now comes naturally to me because I know many more things about farming, exploitation, healthy and complete eating, and because I feel closer to animals.

But beyond that, I feel I can do more, especially because I feel that  somehow during this 2015 I made a difference: two other people close to me have become vegetarian, and one another is a seriously approaching, and this happened beacuse they listen to what I had to say little by little, day by day, and they started to face reality and feel that my ideal was their ideal too.

So I said "what about doing activism?" although in reality it is still what I have done so far :)

I'm just thinking about something more concrete, how to be part of non-profit organizations that do so much to improve the conditions in which animals live here in Italy and I am referring for example to Animal Equality and Essere Animali, LAV or ENPA (an italian onlus similar to PETA) . And if it doesn't take much to become a supporting member, it would be even nicer to take part in some events or desks to spread awareness through people, make them open their eyes and really inform them about what happens to animals.

Sometimes I think it could be a task too much hard for me, that actually I still do not know if I would be able to speak in the right way ... But that's not very different from what I'm doing every day with people close to me! And I think that this is also the most powerful and important form of activism, the one we practice every day of our lives, wherever we are, because among all those people with blinders and earmuffs, someone will wake up and will ask for more information, someone will begin to open his eyes and wonder why, beginning our same path.

So it is neither a hard task, nor wasted energy. NEVER.

What's more ... these are the only two good resolutions that will characterize my 2016, be a vegan activist. Because what I'm doing is not enough, I feel I can do much more and I want more people to know the truth and make a choice to justice and freedom.

That's all, I wish everyone a happy new year, may this be a year of change for those who haven't already gone vegan, and a year full of positive situations and improvements for all vegans, animalists, activists and of course for all animals!!

GOING VEGAN #1: THE FIRST STEPS TOWARDS VEGAN PHILOSOPHY!

In this section I decided to write about my path towards a vegan lifestyle and share it with everybody who is interested in taking the same choice! I'm not really able to start right from the beginning (because it's been a very long time since I started to think about it) but in this first "episode" I will describe the first few steps I took to go nearer a vegan philosophy.

Actually I've never been a great meat-eater, even as a child I was very interested in everything about animals and the environment. I consider myself very lucky for that, but I also believe that the vast majority of children have this sensitivity, which then fades as they grow and that is overwhelmed by cultural habits ... but that's another story!

The fact is that for my parents has always been a battle to make me eat a piece of meat, especially because despite repeated requests I NEVER wanted to eat pieces of animals that I liked a lot like rabbit, horse and deer ... but I ate chicken, fish and other meat products ... Until a few years ago (can not remember exactly how and when, but still around 22 years - now I'm 25) I begun to be seriously concerned about the situations in which animals live, I did a lot of researchs and I documented especially on the web, so I began to reflect and to open my eyes.

The question then arose spontaneously in me: Why do I have to say no to a horse's flesh but I'm saying yes to a pig's flesh? Why I don't want to eat rabbit but I do eat a chicken? A horse and a rabbit are maybe considered more beautiful, so I don't want them to become food ... but a pig and a chicken are perhaps happy to become food? They feel the same suffering that all animals feel... Aren't they all living beings ??

When you realize that your food causes death and suffering, that is also due to your decisions if some creatures lose their lives, there starts the change. And if not, I think there is something wrong in that person's mind. When you discover the truth, I don't think that you can go back ... how can you introduce in your body something dead, something that once was SOMEONE? Someone who was not at all different from your dog, from your cat, by any pet you could love ... Not even different from yourself.

Now I just believe in one thing:
WE ARE ALL LIVING BEINGS AND WE ALL WANT ONE THING: TO LIVE IN FREEDOM.
